Most business owners know they need to be active on social media. Social-media use is at an all-time high, and businesses need to have a presence on the platforms where their customers are hanging out.

1. It can be difficult to know what constitutes good engagement on Facebook. However, according to research from Socialbakers, the average business owner (with a Facebook page size of 0 to 9,999 fans), should expect around 28 interactions per post. If you’re receiving significantly less engagement than this, you may need to revisit your Facebook strategy.

2. Think Instagram is just a fad? Instagram has now surpassed Twitter in terms of active monthly users. At last count, Instagram had 400 million users, as compared to Twitter’s 320 million.

3. According to Time magazine, men are more likely to share their thoughts and feelings with their social-media fans and followers than with their partners or real-life friends. While I’m not sure how relevant this is to business owners, it’s too weird not to include here.
