6 WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR FACEBOOK ENGAGEMENT

If you want to have a successful Facebook page, there are two main keys to making that happen:

  1. Posting consistently
  2. Making your posts engaging

Many pages that aren’t performing well fail at one of these two things. Consistent, valuable content will keep people coming back for more, and creating posts that engage will increase your organic reach so more people see your posts.

Creating content every day is maybe the easy part (although I know some people find it challenging). Facebook’s scheduler tool is a great one to use to create a bunch of content in advance.

But your content also needs to be engaging. The more likes, comments, shares and link clicks you get on each post, the more people will see that post. Engagement extends your organic reach.

Here are some ways to make that happen:

  1. Post photos or videos: Facebook gives heavier weight to these items, meaning, they naturally let more people see them. Just remember: you need to upload your photos and videos, copy/pasting a link won’t work as well.
  2. Keep it short and sweet. Posts with 80 characters or less do better.
  3. Ask questions: this makes people want to respond to you, and any comments help to drive up your engagement.
  4. Run contests: one thing I like to do is to post a photo of the thing we’re giving away, and then ask people to comment on the photo in order to enter the contest. It’s a great way to get lots of engagement on your post.
  5. Use memes and humour: people love it when you make them laugh, and this kind of content is more likely to get shared.
  6. Don’t ignore them: if someone comments on one of your posts, like their comment, respond to them, ask them questions to take the conversation further!
